Controlling Accountant
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Controlling Accountant for our client, a leading global provider of advanced analytics, technology solutions, and clinical research services to the life sciences industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-level accounting and financial controlling support in accordance with company procedures, international accounting standards, and local regulatory requirements.
Job Description
Provide high-level technical and general accounting services in accordance with the company’s Finance Standard Operating Procedures, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and applicable financial reporting standards, including local GAAP and IFRS.
Manage and oversee general accounting, controlling, cost management, tax, and accounts payable processes.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Monitor business performance, costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial variances.
Identify significant deviations from budgets and forecasts and provide clear explanations to relevant stakeholders.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of financial information.
Maintain and review general ledger accounts and ensure that transactions are recorded correctly.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing the required documentation and responding to audit queries.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
Assist with the preparation and submission of tax declarations and other regulatory reports.
Work closely with local and regional finance teams, business units, external consultants, auditors, and other stakeholders.
Support improvements to accounting, controlling, and reporting processes.
Contribute to finance-related projects and system implementations when required.
Provide guidance and accounting support to internal teams regarding financial procedures and reporting requirements.
Prioritise and coordinate multiple responsibilities to ensure that all reporting and operational deadlines are met.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
Minimum of 3–4 years of relevant experience in accounting, tax, cost management, financial controlling, and accounts payable.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with US GAAP, IFRS, local GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements is preferred.
Knowledge of SAP Finance modules.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong technical accounting skills.
Good analytical and numerical skills.
Ability to interpret financial information and identify potential risks or inconsistencies.
Ability to exercise sound judgement within established procedures and practices.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Detail-oriented, responsible, and results-focused working approach.
Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
